Dear Friends of Atoka Cemetery Association,

It is with regret that I need to inform you that the Atoka Cemetery

Association will not meet this year due to the Coronavirus. It may be

less severe in May than in April but with the ages of our "group" Larry

and I decided not to meet.

The following have been buried at Atoka this last year:

We were sad to hear that Hulene Archie passed away on May 7, 2019

right after our last meeting. She was always so faithful in attending the

meetings each year. Also, her friend Daryl Strelow died May 31, 2019

after Hulene. We will miss both of them. Chad Price, son of Bill &

Denise Price was buried at Atoka June 8, 2019. Irma E. O'Neal passed

away on July 5, 2019. Bernice Shields, the step-mother-in-law to Bill

and Sue Shields passed away October 6, 2019 and was buried at

Atoka. She was married to Vint Shields and lived in Arizona at the time

of her passing. On February 15, 2020 we lost a friend of the Atoka

Cemetery Association Bobbie Jean DePrang. She was living in

Shenandoah, Iowa and always remembered the Association each

year.

Clay Richards has been spraying the cemetery with pre-emergence

herbicide to eradicate grass burrs along with mowing and cemetery

maintenance. We appreciate the generosity of your donations to the

Cemetery Association. This year all donations will go toward the

Pavilion Fund where we will be buying concrete benches to be placed

under the Pavilion. The old wooden structures have been removed as

they were falling down. Please send your donations to Sue Shields,

Treasurer, 699 CR 429, Novice, TX 79538.

God Bless and stay well. We will see you next year!

Larry Garvin, President

Shields, Secretary/Treasurer
