Lucy Laura Wilson, 84

Lucy Laura Wilson expired on November 3, 2002 in Ballinger, Texas. Services for Lucy Laura Casey Wilson will be Wednesday, November 6 at 2:00 p. m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ballinger with Rev. Bill Hughes officiating. Interment in Rough Creek Cemetery in Novice, Texas will follow.

Lucy, born June 25, 1918 in Novice, Texas was the daughter of John and Lucy Casey. Lucy began her fifty-five year marriage to Harlon H. (Shorty) Wilson on December 8, 1943. Lucy was a charter member of Trinity Methodist Church in Coleman. She spent sixty-three years as a Sunday School Teacher and student of the Bible. She taught and led children’s choirs in many Methodist churches in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri and Texas. She was active in every church she attended and made lifelong friends in each, ending her service as teacher of the Philathea Class, First Methodist Ballinger in 1998. Lucy worked as a homemaker and dispatcher for the Coleman County Electric Co-op. She was a tireless supporter of her children, Bobby and Martha, as a leader of Cub Scouts, Brownies, Band Boosters and the myriad of other activities they encountered. Lucy never shirked her duty. Her great Southern hospitality was legendary as she lived by the Golden Rule and John 21:15-18.

Lucy is survived by Bobby, Peggy, Christopher and Elizabeth Wilson; Dr. Andrew and Elizabeth, Lydia and Lila Schaffer; Martha, Daniel, Anthony and Jennifer Beimer Melissa, Shawn, Emily and Rachel Wade; a host of friends, relatives and the wonderful and caring staff of Heritage Oaks Estates.

Pallbearers will be a group of friends whom Lucy admired and appreciated, with the Philathea Class serving as honorary pallbearers.
