Pearl Moates
CISCO - Pearl Booth Moates, 100, passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 in Cisco. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, November 20, 2010 in Kimbrough Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Dr. Kelvin J. Kelley and Reverend Tim Penney. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Kimbrough Funeral Home. Visitation with the family was held from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Pearl was one of thirteen children born to James Gross and Lillie Mae (Watkins) Sartor. She and her twin brother, Earl were born in Bronte, Texas on April 4, 1910. She was a graduate of Lawn High School and attended Southwest Texas University in San Marcos and earned her teaching certificate from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. She worked at Home Supply, Heidenheimers’s, and retired from Norvell and Miller Grocery Store in 1977 where she worked as a bookkeeper. She was an excellent seamstress and spent many late nights sewing for her three daughters. She also enjoyed needlework, quilting, reading, and doing crafts. She married Paul Booth in San Antonio on July 19, 1936 and moved to Cisco shortly after their marriage. He preceded her in death on November 27, 1952. After her retirement, she married Carl Moates in April 1977. They spent the next nineteen years traveling to the Texas coast, Possum Kingdom Lake, and enjoying life in Cisco. He preceded her in death on February 10, 1996. Pearl was a member of First Baptist Church since 1936. She was a role model, and an inspiration to her family and a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Paula Haynes of Abilene, Mary Beth Stroud of Lampasas, and Roberta Brown and husband Jim of Carbon; granddaughter, Becky Caffey and husband Dean of Clyde; grandson, Brad Brown and wife Tracy of Cisco; great grandchildren, Courtney Brown of Cisco, Kyla Caffey of Clyde, Meagan Brown of Cisco, and Zac Caffey of Clyde; sister-in-law Maude Sartor of Granbury; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; twelve brothers and sisters; and two sons-in-law, John Haynes and John Stroud.
