Family Story: Polio in the SARTOR Family
By the BOOTH sisters, Carol Anne JOHNSON HOCH, and Lynn CANNON POLLAK

[editorial comment]

"Mary was a wonderful seamstress even though she suffered from polio that effected her hands. She never married but lived at home with her parents until she became ill and went to live with her brother in West Texas due to the climate." FindAGrave

"I called Charles Gene Johnson, his gggrandmother was Mary's sister, and he told me about Mary, so I thought it need to be added, if you look at her picture closely you can see her fingers are crippled." Carol Anne JOHNSON HOCH, 18 Jun3 2011

"I mentioned the fact that the FindAGrave site said she had polio to the three [BOOTH] sisters plus sister-in-law. They said the youngest did--Johnny--but not Mary. It does not look like polio to me. I think polio affects the thumb, doesn't it? Anyway, it looks much more like arthritis." Lynn CANNON POLLAK, 19 June 2011
