Short Biography of
Annie GILLISON LITTLE b. 1837

Annie GILLISON, born 24 May 1837 in Wamphray, Dumfries, SCOTLAND, was the youngest of twelve children of Andrew GILLISON and Susan SMITH GILLISON.

Annie GILLISON married James (Jas) LITTLE and they had five children
- daughter Agnes Bell LITTLE born about 1858 in SCOTLAND
- son Michael LITTLE born Jan 1860 in SCOTLAND
- son Andrew LITTLE, born about 1862 in SCOTLAND
- daughter Mary LITTLE, born in Feb 1864 in SCOTLAND [needs further verification]
- daughter Annie Gillison LITTLE, born 9 Mar 1871 in Moffat, Dumfriesshire, SCOTLAND.

Note: Annie GILLISON [maiden name] LITTLE named her last child Annie Gillison [middle name] LITTLE; this is an important challenge for genealogists.

1885: Annie GILLISON LITTLE (age 48 and widowed) and her son Andrew LITTLE (age 23) and daughter Annie Gillison LITTLE (age 13) immigrated to the US, arriving in New York City on 01 July 1885 aboard the Circassia.

1889: Daughter Annie Gillison LITTLE (age 18) married Marquis Lafayette MITCHELL (b. 1862, age 27) on 22 Nov 1889. They had six children.

1886, 1889: Son Michael LITTLE immigrated into the USA on 6 Jul 1886, married Mary UNKNOWN in 1889, and they lived in Galveston through the 1930 census; they had no children. Mary UNKNOWN LITTLE, born Feb 1865, was also from SCOTLAND and also immigrated in 1886.

1889, 1890: Daughter Mary LITTLE immigrated in 1889 and married PAUL in 1890.

In the 1900 Census, Annie GILLISON LITTLE (age 63) and her daughter Mary LITTLE PAUL (age 36) lived with Annie Gillison LITTLE MITCHELL and her family.

1908: Annie GILLISON LITTLE (age 71) was a passenger from England to Galveston, Galveston Co, TEXAS in Sept 1908, and the Passenger List indicates her final destination was Silver Valley [now a ghost town], Coleman Co, TEXAS. She must have been visiting her UK home one last time.

1920: In the 1920 Census, Annie GILLISON LITTLE (age 82) lived with her daughter Annie Gillison LITTLE MITCHELL and her family.

1921: Annie GILLISON LITTLE died the next year at age 83, on 11 Mar 1921 and is the first of the LITTLEs to be buried in the Atoka Cemetery.
