Mr. Dawl Julian Rackley, 83 years old passed away on July 23, 2010 at his residence in Novice, [Coleman Co] Texas. Mr. Rackley was born April 12, 1927 in Benoit, [Runnels Co] Texas to Eddie Lawrence Rackley & Gracie Leotis Johnson Rackley. Dawl married Dorothy Smith-Clevenger in Lovington, [Lea Co] New Mexico on November 29, 1954, and he was proud to have celebrated 55 years with her.

Dawl was a World War II Veteran and Lease Operator Pumper until he retired. He and Dorothy moved to Coleman County on June 29, 1996 and made their home in Novice, where they were known for the Great Pyrenees that greeted everyone as they drove past the house with a turn around show.

Survivors include: Loving wife Dorothy, 1 son; Randal Wayne Clevenger, 3 sisters and brother in law; Ila Faye Brendsel of Buena Park, [Orange Co] California, Betty Rodriguez of Aurora, [Arapahoe, Adams, and Douglas Cos] Colorado, and Peggy M. & Jim Rob McKenzie of Raymore, [Cass Co] Missouri, 2 brothers and sister in law; Horace Rackley of Portales, [Roosevelt Co] New Mexico, Sonny Ray & Jane Rackley of Brownfield, [Terry Co] Texas, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 3 great- great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. Dawl was preceded in death by his parents; Eddie & Gracie, 1 sister Mary Lee Clevenger-Washington.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 27, 2010 from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Walker Funeral Home 401 Commercial Ave. Service will be Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Atoka Cemetery in Novice, Texas, with Rev. Patrick Bennett officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.
