BILLIE "BILL" DePRANG

Billie "Bill" DePrang of San Angelo [Tom Green Co] passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2003.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Johnson's Funeral Home. On Sunday, Nov. 23,  visitation will be from noon-5 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home in Coleman [Coleman Co, TEXAS]. Funeral service will be at  11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Coleman with the Rev. Larry Adams of Eula officiating. Burial will be in Coleman City Cemetery.

Bill was born May 23, 1914, to Oscar and Clora DePrang on the DePrang Ranch near Novice [Coleman Co, TEXAS] and reared  there with his eight siblings. He was married to Lillian Winslett on April 30, 1941, in Brownwood [Brown Co, TEXAS].

As a young man, he was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, which took him to projects in the western United States. He was a civilian worker at Fort Bliss, Texas, during World War II. Later, he entered the oil business where he worked across Texas from Galveston to the Guadalupe Mountains. Bill, Lillian and children settled in Wink, [Winkler Co] Texas, where he eventually retired from Chevron Oil Company. He  made many lifelong friends in Wink and was well-liked for his good humor and respected for his pride in his work and dependability.

After leaving Wink, he returned to his beloved family ranch where he managed a cattle operation for several years while living in Coleman. Bill and Lillian spent their retirement in Abilene [Taylor Co], and later, San Angelo.

His children and grandchildren love and remember him for his caring and gentle nature. Countless hours of fun were had with our Daddy and Granddaddy at "the place."

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; and three brothers, Bunk, Cot and Garland DePrang.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Mary Pat DePrang of San Angelo; a daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Bill Price of San Angelo; five grandchildren, Sydney Miller [Sydney Laurel PRICE GARRETT], Brian DePrang, Jennifer Gager, Chad Price and Sarah Beach [Sarah Elizabeth DEPRANG BEACH]; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Garvin and Hazel  Barmore; and three brothers, Hayse, Herman and Weldon DePrang. He will be greatly missed by a host of  friends and loving relatives.

The family would like to thank everyone at Meadow Creek Nursing Center for their kindness and care  for our dad in his final years. A special thanks to Blossom Muncy for her support and compassion.
