ANNUAL MEETING - MAY 12, 2012

Dear Friends of Atoka Cemetery Association,

Spring is here and it's time to get ready for the annual Atoka Cemetery

Association meeting. This year it will be held Saturday, May 12th. Let's

hope we don't have the cold spell we had last year that kept us from

gathering at the cemetery. Last year the members met at the Novice

United Methodist Church with 21 attending. We will meet at the

cemetery this year, unless the weather is fickle. We will post a sign on

the gate if we have to meet at the Methodist Church in Novice. l know

everyone likes meeting at the cemetery.

In 2011, three people were buried in Atoka Cemetery.

SHIELDS HOLLAND Euelena Faye

died 11 January 2011, buried 14 January 2011

DEPRANG Weldon Archie

died 22 April 2011, buried 14 May 2011

JENNINGS Fred Bryan, Sr.

died 31 Jul 2011, buried 4 Aug 2011

We did have an errant headstone installed, which is an interesting

story. Our Web Manager, K.J. Hannah takes care of our website

www.atokacemetery.org. She had received a notice of a headstone for

Mary B. Sartor leaning against a tree in Wimberley Cemetery in Hays

County. To make a long story short come to the meeting and we'll tell

you the whole story of where, when, and how it came to Atoka

Cemetery this past summer.

There are several graves from the last few years which still don‘t have

a headstone. This sometimes gets forgotten about or good intentions

go awry. It you need help finding a place to get a headstone let

someone from the Association know.

The Association's meeting will begin at 10:00 with the business starting

at 11:00. At 12:00 we will share a potluck meal together. The bread,

plates, utensils and drinks will be provided.

Thank you for your generosity in giving to the Atoka Association to

keep the cemetery mowed and the grave sites maintained. If you

cannot attend and would like to contribute, please send your donations

to Atoka Cemetery Association, c/o Sue Shields, 699 CR 429, Novice,

TX 79538, PH: 325-723-2056. The website is www.atokacemetery.org.
