- NOVICE -- L. B. Shifflett, 60, of Novice died Monday, October 15, 2006 at his residence.
- Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2006 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Atoka Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
- Mr. Shifflett was born August 4, 1946 in Garza County, the son of Lawrence Bruce Shifflett and Oleta Mae Blassingame Shifflett. He grew up in Loving County and married Rita Tidwell on January 21, 1966 in Mentone. He worked for Michael Shelby Oil as a production foreman and moved to Novice in April, 1987. He was a member of the Novice Volunteer Fire Department and Talpa Cowboy Church.
- He is survived by his wife, Rita Shifflett of Novice; two sons, Scott Shifflett and Greg Shifflett, both of Novice; one daughter Kelly Posey and husband Danny of Lingleville; two brothers, Joe Shifflett of Abilene, Wally Shifflett of Texas City; one sister, Mary Franklin of Kermit; one grandson, Parker Posey of Lingleville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
- He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Iva Lee Murphy and Birdie Lee.
- Memorials may be sent to the Novice Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary or the Class of 1966 Scholarship Fund, c/o Southwest Bank, Attn: Barbara Dudley, Wink, Texas.
- Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
